South Korea apart from her longtime ill relationship with North Korea is yet facing other problems of MERS and the panic among her citizens.

Brief info on MERS
Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) is a viral respiratory illness that is new to humans. It was first reported in Saudi Arabia in 2012 and has since spread to several other countries, including the United States. Most people infected with MERS-CoV developed severe acute respiratory illness, including fever,
cough, and shortness of breath. Many of them have died.

South Korea has 108 cases of MERS and nine have died already. The virus has struck mainly adults, with the exception of one 16-year- old boy. And the MERS deaths have been among older adults with pre-existing conditions.

And the number of cases grows every day. On Tuesday, South Korea reported that a ninth person had died from MERS and another 13 had contracted the virus, bringing the number of confirmed cases to 108.
More than 2,800 people remain quarantined, either at home or in health
facilities. More than 2,000 schools remain closed. (CNN)

Ten people have been released from quarantine in Hong Kong and Guangzhu.

French special forces have killed four members of al-Qaeda in northern Mali, including one of its leaders who was suspected of involvement in the killing of several French citizens, the defence ministry said.

Laurent Fabius, the French foreign minister made a statemen that Abdelkrim the Toureg was implicated in at least three operations against the French, and was the lead suspect in the November 2013 killings of two journalists, Claude Verlon and Ghislaine Dupont, with Radio France International.

Abdelkeim tbe Toureg was also implicated in the 2010 killing of French aid worker Michel Germaneau, and in the 2010 capture of four French people in the uranium mining town of Arlit, Niger.

Burundi which is one of the five poorest countries in the world is facing yet another crisis of cholera outbreak amongst refugees.

Tens of thousands of refugees stranded on Kagunda island, Tanzania are facing worsening medical problems which is giving the humanitarian aides hard time to cope.

At least 33 people have died, with 27 deaths believed to have been cholera related. The World Health Organization declared cholera a level 1 emergency in the region on Wednesday.

According to reports, more than 100,000 of Burundians have crossed into Tanzania due to the political conflict in Burundi since April 26.

Africa is faced with the crisis of refugees here and there due to conflicts and acts of terrorism in her countries.

According to UNHCR, in the CAR, the escalation of conflict since December 2013 has left some 930,000 people internally displaced during 2014, while another 135,000 Central Africans have sought refuge in Cameroon, 22,000 in the DRC, 20,000 in Chad and some 10,000 in the Congo.

The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) has taken control of Syria’s ancient city of Palmyra on Wednesday.

ISIL started attack in the area last week engaging with the Syrian troops leaving hundreds dead and massive damages. After series of engagements, the Syrian army has collapsed and the terrorist group has taken control of the city.

Families are being forced to leave their homes due to the retreat of Syrian army and ISIL has occupied almost every parts of the city.

Palmyra dates back to the 1st and 2nd century and located in central Homs province, it lies 210km northeast of Damascus in desert that stretches to the Iraqi frontier to the east. The city has been listed as a World Heritage site because of its architecture, and is also known as The Pearl of the Desert.

On early hours of Wednesday, 2am to be precise, hundreds of refugees were rescued by local fishermen in the Strait of Malacca off Indonesia Aceh’s Province. It was gathered that this happened after their boat had been turned away by Thai and Malaysian authorities.

This reported rescue happened before the governments of both Malaysia and Indonesia made a statement that they will continue to.provide humanitarian services to 7,000 migrants at sea.

“Those rescued were taken to Simpang Tiga village, East Aceh province” a rescue official claimed.

The refugees claimed they have been turned away by Malaysian authorities thrice and Indonisian’s twice.

Also gathered is that about 1,500 muslim Rohingya Myanmar fleeing persecution and Bangladeshis escaping poverty have arrived in Aceh province in recent days according to Aljazeera news.
