Awaiting

Posted: February 26, 2014 in poetry

I have slept and woken up

All night long I worked up

I can hear the birds singing

“We are fed up” vulture ruling

This noble Athenian can buy all

Poverty united nothing to show for

No leg to pull right dented

Truth said to get vices corrected

When on my couch I lie

Suffering souls of those that die

At the sound of injustice

The nation a place of prejudice

Generations before me keep keenly waiting

Also in this queue of awaiting

To welcome a future hands equal

Vivid vision I haven’t liquor

The meeting at her crown’s place

Both rich and poor without lace

This heedful hope I dream of

When the people stand up tough

The former masters to be ignored

Future as bright as stars transpired
